Smart Money Buddies, LLC (“Smart Money Buddies,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of children who use our educational products.

This Children’s Privacy Notice applies specifically to:

Money Buddies by Smart Money Buddies, our parent-managed family financial literacy app for kids and teens.

This notice is intended to comply with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) and similar children’s privacy laws.

1. Parent-Managed Accounts Only

Money Buddies is designed for families.

A parent or legal guardian must create and manage the account
Parents may create optional child profiles for educational use
Children do not create independent accounts
Children are not permitted to provide personal contact information

As stated in our Privacy Policy, children cannot make purchases and do not register on their own.

2. Information We Collect About Children

We collect only limited information that is necessary to provide the educational experience.

Parents may optionally provide:

Child nickname or first name
Age or age range
In-app learning progress and activity completion

We do not require children to provide:

Full names
Email addresses
Phone numbers
Home addresses
Social media accounts

3. Parental Consent (COPPA Requirement)

By creating an account and adding a child profile, the parent or legal guardian provides verifiable consent for Smart Money Buddies to collect and use the child’s information solely for educational and app functionality purposes.

4. How Children’s Information Is Used

Children’s information is used only to:

Provide age-appropriate educational features
Track progress through lessons and activities
Save app settings and learning achievements
Improve app stability and performance

We do not use children’s information for advertising purposes.

5. No Third-Party Advertising or Behavioral Tracking

We do not allow third-party behavioral advertising in Money Buddies.

Specifically:

We do not display targeted ads
We do not engage in cross-app tracking
We do not sell or rent children’s personal information

This aligns with our Privacy Policy’s children’s protections.

6. Sharing of Children’s Data

We only share information with trusted service providers who help operate the app securely, such as:

Supabase (secure authentication and data storage)
RevenueCat (subscription entitlement validation)
Apple App Store and Google Play (payment processing)
Firebase or Sentry (diagnostics and crash reporting)

These providers may only access information as needed to perform services on our behalf and are contractually required to protect it.

We do not share children’s information for marketing or advertising purposes.

7. Parent Rights

Parents and legal guardians may, at any time:

Review the information associated with their child’s profile
Request that we update or correct the information
Request deletion of the child’s data
Request deletion of the entire family account

We take reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect children’s information.

While no system is 100% secure, we work to protect data from unauthorized access, misuse, or disclosure.
